Varkala Beach is located at a distance of 54 km from Thiruvananthapuram
(Trivandrum) city of Kerala. Varkala attracts tourists not only for
its beach resort but is also a famous pilgrim center. The beach is

serenity. At Varkala beach, bask in the golden glory of the sun to
get yourself a lovely copper tan. The mineral water of the hills is
believed to possess medicinal properties. Varkala is known as the
'Southern Kashi' because of the 800-year-old Janardhana temple.

month of Karkidakam, according to Malayalam calendar is considered
auspicious. People also come to Varkala to pay Vayu Bali in memory
of their relatives who have left this world.
